Last night I came across this video by Dr. James White speaking about modern day prophets and apostles.  He made some interesting points which I thought are worthy of serious consideration.

  1. Apostles and prophets form the foundation of the church with Christ being the chief corner stone.
  2. If we are re-instituting Apostles and prophets are we building another foundation?
  3. Are the new apostles and prophets bringing us new authoritative revelation?  Then is the canon of scripture being expanded?
  4. Those who claim to be apostles and prophets ought to be tested Rev.2:2.
  5. Anyone claiming apostolic authority should be consistent with the Bible in lifestyle, beliefs, holiness, obedience, dedication to the preaching of the gospel.
  6. The Bible no where tells us to look forward for new apostles and prophets.
  7. It tells us to expect false teachers.
  8. God has already given us all we need for life and godliness 11Peter 1:3.  The word of God is sufficient.
  9. Running after new revelation is dangerous.

About veldaville

A retired special education teacher with a Masters Degree in Education from Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Was raised in an evangelical church but at age 20 joined Armstrong's Worldwide Church of God. After spending over 30 years in that cult, God opened my eyes to his truth and brought me back to the things I had learned when I was a youth. I believe that I was a Christian all along but because I was young and unlearned in the Scriptures, I fell prey to a religious cult. My ambition is, therefore, to proclaim Jesus Christ to all and especially to those who have been deceived by false teachers. My hope is that they may see the light and be saved from those who prey on their souls.
